Kongai Card Album Description[]
Like any great leader, Auger specializes in confusing his opponents into using their own attacks against themselves.
Attacks[]
Equippable Items[]
Pirate Items[]
- Captain's Grog Mug: Can be found useful, though it is situation-dependent. 30% of 80 HP is 24.
- Cursed Dabloons: Can slightly mess with opponent's energy game, which is good for mono-rangers like Auger. Just don't use it in a mirror match with the same item.
- Navigator's Sextant: A good option; gives you a better shot at landing an Aimed Pistol.
- Ornamental Egg: Works well with Rapid-fire Pistol, making it a 45% interrupt. Optional.
- Polished Spyglass: Already high hit rates, but certainty and protection from stat debuffs is always nice.
General Items[]
- General's Insignia: Works only for Aimed Pistol. Bad choice.
- Girdle of Iron Will: Increases your chance at landing Aimed Pistol/Word of Command.
- Healing Salve: Playstyle-dependent.
- Mindreader's Chalice: A matter of choice.
- Stoneheel Totem: Not a bad choice for a mono-ranger like Auger.
- Yellow Rock of Cowards: People will often try to escape at far range, fairly decent option.
Strategy[]
General Use[]
Auger is a typical far range character, which makes him a bad opener. Although he has only two far range attacks, he is a very versatile character. You can use him both for finishing enemies and dealing high damage to your opponent (Sextant works well for both tasks), as well as suitable for tanking most attacks. Avoid close range. Word of Command is generally a mediocre move and should only be used in certain situations, or as a last resort.
Strengths[]
- Very powerful at long range. He has a fast, cheap, interrupting move (Rapid-fire Pistol and a scary 40 energy 40 damage (50% for a 60 damage crit) nuke (Aimed Pistol).
- Particularly good against enemies with low physical resistance.
- Can cause enemies to stop attacking, even when he's inactive.
- Can reflect light magic, which can scare light users like Bestor or Eva Bovary.
- Has a very useful innate, somewhat similar to Popo and Feather, but takes the hit and forces a Rest.
- Overall, despite his lackluster resistances and limited attacks, Auger is capable of tanking at far range, due to heavy attacks being at that range are rare and having three available counters.
Weaknesses[]
- Very weak at close range.
- As Captain's Mirror is non-damaging unless reflecting, this makes him one of two characters functionally immune to Command (since it only affects close-ranged attacks and Word of Command will not do anything to prevent a chain effect).
- Rapid-Fire Pistol becomes useless if the opponent has high Physical defence.
- Using Word of Command causes energy issues, the move is random and it's at speed 1.
- No light resistance (though partially compensated by Captain's Mirror).
- Captain's Mirror has a 90% hit rate, which means it also has a chance to miss.
