An innate ability is one which is unique to each character. Some require certain conditions, such as that character being on a set amount of health, others are periodic, happening once per round.

Innate abilities are always displayed in blue, although some innate abilities are also in fact Buffs or Debuffs (e.g: Recuperation is a variant of Heal, and Disable has variants like Disable Switch or Interrupt).
