Now for something different. I have decided to chronicle all possible Kongai Fan Fiction that still remains (given that the official Kongai Forum also had fanfic that was now sadly purged) on this website so that none may further succumb to destruction. The reason I decided to name these blogs "the Apocrypha Games" is that firstly, Kongai is a game (duh!), secondly, "apocrypha" refers to the fact that these stories are at best dubious to Sirlin's official "canon" of Kongai (even tough there isn't that much in the first place) and finally, "apocrypha" also means that these stories are not canon to my attempt at fan fiction (Project Kongai). I have neither used any ideas from these stories (hopefully mere coincidences if any similarities ever show up), since my story has 1. The concepts have been planned out meticulously long ago before I found these. 2. Features original characters from my other concepts Mavericks. And 3. Most of these stories would have some direct conflict with any lore I would have proposed.
Note that the fanfic here has been unaltered, bad grammar and all.
Anyway, here's the 21st book of the Apocrypha Games, originally written by BlizzardHedgehog of Kongregate (Jul 27, 2010), sourced here.
The Moonlight Games[]
One night, Higashi and Onimaru are sitting there in Higashi’s house playing a game of Go and Shogi. Onimaru has his armor and helmet removed.
“Ah, it would appear that you have won once again, my student.” Higashi said.
“I learned from the best.” Onimaru said.
“Well, how about double or nothing, eh? You win, I will teach you how to use the caltrops that I have been using for years.” Higashi said.
“You speak of them as though they are no ordinary caltrops.” Onimaru said.
“Indeed. You are the only one out of my three students that could possibly master and make the best use of them.” Higashi said.
“But sensei, do you not believe that Rumiko is just as good, if not better?” Onimaru said.
“Don’t be silly. Now, are we going or what?” Higashi asked impatiently.
“You never said what happens if I lose, sensei.” Onimaru said calmly.
“Oh yeah. Well, why don’t you look behind that curtain over there…” Higashi said, pointing to the wall.
“But sensei, there is no…oh.” Onimaru said, as he touched the wall, which was actually a curtain disguised as the wall. He lifted it and saw the most disturbing sight of his life. Marquis Le Morte sat there on a bed in a black Speedo, his gray wrinkles folding over his ancient bones.
“Higashi, when are you going to get that threesome ready?” Marquis Le Morte yelled. Onimaru looked on in surprise, then quickly dropped the curtain.
“Suddenly I don’t care about the caltrops.” Onimaru said.
“Come on now…” Higashi said as he stepped closer and closer to Onimaru.
“Please master! This isn’t right!” Onimaru yelled.
The door on the opposite side of the room flung wide open. Higashi, seeing that it was Rumiko, redirected himself and instead of pushing Onimaru behind the curtain, he ran into a real wall.
“Sensei! Onimaru!” Rumiko yelled.
“What is it?” Onimaru said.
“It’s Amaya!” Rumiko said in rushed anxiety. “He’s stolen the Jade Figurine and run off! He plans on destroying the village!”
“No!” Onimaru said.
“Come on Onimaru! Suit up in your armor, we got work to do!” Higashi yelled as he ran out the door. He grabbed a few scrolls on his way out, and Rumiko and Onimaru quickly followed him
When they arrived at the village, everything had been cast ablaze in a large fire. As the three ran further into the village, they saw dead bodies and ruined houses everywhere. Eventually, they came across two green haired people. One of them was female, and sitting on the ground, covered in blood, huddling over something. The other was a man, who stood in front of the woman. Two men cloaked in black garb came out of nowhere and ran at the man. The man hit one of them with two consecutive palm strikes, then performed an uppercut to finish him. The other man came at him, but five shuriken had already buried themselves in the black-garbed man’s chest before he could make contact. Then, a dark blast of energy came soaring out and hit the green haired man, which sent him flying backwards. Rumiko checked his pulse, and then shook her head side to side. As another burst of dark energy was about to make its way to the mother, Onimaru leapt in front of it and blocked it with his katana.
“Are you all right?” Rumiko asked the green haired woman. She got no response, then discovered that she was already dead, as she fell over, what she was protecting became visible. It was a boy, about seven or eight years of age, who was crying out of fear. He had green hair just like his parents.
“What should we do with the child, sensei?” Rumiko asked.
“I will take him back to the temple. As for you, I want you to help Onimaru. Find Amaya and give him an injury that he will not forget.” Higashi said as he picked up the child. “And take this. You may need it.” Higashi gave Rumiko the Scroll of Inner Focus.
“Thank you, Higashi sensei.” Rumiko said with a slight bow.
“Rumiko, lets look for Amaya.” Onimaru said coldly.
“Agreed.” Rumiko said, and the two went further into the village.
After a couple of minutes, Rumiko and Onimaru found themselves in a clearing in the middle of a village. They looked around, and then Cornelius Constantine jumped out of a burning building and attempted to strike Onimaru with his fist. Onimaru blocked it with his katana, and was about to release a counter-attack when he felt life force leave his body.
“Arghh!” Onimaru said in frustration. He saw the yellow and green tomes attached to Cornelius’s belt, and he cursed his foolishness.
“Onimaru!” Rumiko yelled, as she began to make the hand signs necessary in order to teleport, when suddenly she was kicked in the back and knocked over.
“Nothing can save you now, samurai!” Cornelius said as he threw a smoke bomb at Onimaru. Onimaru could not see, so he began to use his other senses in order to try to detect where Cornelius could be. Then he found him and took a single, firm slash. He had felt that his katana had scored a direct hit, and Onimaru was satisfied. He eased his mind, but this left him wide open, as he was attacked by a dark energy blast from behind. He quickly resharpened his mind, then tossed down a few caltrops.
Rumiko also could not see in the cloud of smoke that had been created, and she felt herself being lifted up from the ground.
“So, ninja girl thinks she can fix everything, huh?”
“Who are you!?” Rumiko demanded.
“I am Ambrosia. Ambrosia Thorn…” she said as she leaned forward and gently pressed her mouth to Rumiko’s. Rumiko would have pushed her away, but she felt her body doing odd things. It was an effect from the smoke bomb. Ambrosia’s tongue was now entwined around Rumiko’s, and Rumiko began to feel hers do the same. She did not want it, but there was nothing that she could do.
“Rumiko!” Onimaru yelled. But Rumiko could not return the cry for help. A few minutes later, the smoke cleared, and Rumiko was lying on the ground. Onimaru ran over to her body, but another blast of dark energy was fired at him. He saw it coming, and closed his eyes as he braced for the hit, but when he reopened his eyes, he saw the little green haired boy. In his left hand was an origami crane. In his right was a sphere of chi. Higashi ran over to pick up Rumiko’s body.
“Onimaru, we have to get out of here. You’re responsible for Yoshiro. Make sure that he doesn’t get hurt.” Higashi said.
“Wait, is this child not the one that we rescued?” Onimaru asked.
“Yes, now let’s go!” Higashi yelled impatiently as he ran back towards the temple.
“You’re going to pay for killing my parents!” Yoshiro yelled.
“Hm. I expected to face a ninja and a samurai.” a dark voice yelled. A young man dressed in the armor of a samurai apprentice stepped out of the shadows. Dark purple flames cloaked his body in an evil aura. Onimaru sensed that this aura emanated a form of chi that was identical to the chi that was used to attack him and the green haired man earlier.
“You must be Amaya. You stole one of our sacred treasures and betrayed us!” Onimaru said in disgust. But he did not draw his katana, because he was not looking for a fight. He was looking to escape.
“You killed my parents, you meanie!” Yoshiro said. “Now this origami crane is all that I have left of my dad. And you’re going to pay for killing them!” Yoshiro said as he ran at Amaya. But Onimaru reached out and grabbed Yoshiro by the collar of his shirt.
“Hey! Let me go, you big jerk!” Yoshiro said as he struggled to escape from Onimaru’s grip.
“You’re not ready.” Onimaru said, as he began to run back to the temple.
“No!” Yoshiro yelled.
“Goodbye…for now. Amaya said, as he disappeared back into the shadows.
