05: Past Invasion[]

Three days has passed since Jason arrived to the island, and he has not left the same beach he landed on since. Part of him felt like he should wait it out until he could signal a passing-by vessel (and thus failing the mission) or continue his mission (with a certain chance of death and a small chance of success), but both parts felt like procrastinating... which he was doing during that three days. During that time, he was thinking how his life led him up to this moment.

This may sound a bit cliché (because it is), but growing up Jason never knew who his parents were. They "supposedly" left him on an orphanage doorsteps, but throughout his life he was desperately searching evidence for his parents. That was until he discovered there were none. His parents somehow turned out to be non-existent. He seemed to be an anomaly on earth, even an alien as he joked to his friends. Because of this, he sometimes appears to look like a loner, but otherwise he's a completely decent person, assuming you don't make him mad. But of course, that was really a lie, and I, the Narrator knows that.

Exactly why Jason chose to become a Maverick was a bit more simple. He always wanted to help other even when he was young, particularly the less fortunate, which (assuming you're still reading here) at times made him look rather well-off. At the same time, he had some bad experiences with the common law enforcement (i.e. the cops), and he especially detested officials who were morally corrupt. Yet he has taken down at least one crime syndicate in the past (but was mostly under shadows, so nobody knew it was him).

All that was distracting for our poor protagonist, who as we can now state is in the middle of nowhere looking for people who might not exist. Let's get back, shall we?

"Good grief, I need to get a move on..."

Having since given up hope of a chance to be rescued, Jason settled in for what will appear to be a long and thankless trek into the dense forest... tomorrow. Surviving on only the meagre supplies that were washed up from his crash (surprised that any of them were able to be salvaged in the first place) during the few days he waited for signs of aid, a desperation to find a path home and perhaps something that would make for a good meal was the driving factor for him to continue his mission.
